900 olive trees are planted following a careful analysis of the soil, climate and well-distributed rainfall throughout the year. The plant layout is 6 m x 5 m, where a mixed range of olives are planted, favouring the native varieties of Friuli Venezia Giulia Bianchera in the percentage of 50%, and Gorgazzo 25%, alternating with other varieties: Leccino 12.5%, and Grignan 12.5%.
In 2017 the company purchased a further olive grove, with 650 already-productive olive trees, in the municipality of San Canzian d’Isonzo (Go). The varieties are Bianchera (native from Friuli Venezia Giulia), Frantoio, Pendolino and Oliarola, growing on an optimal quality land which is caressed by a constant sea breeze with a relieving effect on the temperatures.
Autumn is the ideal period for harvesting olives, in order to produce a high-quality extra virgin olive oil. Harvest time starts at the end of October until December, and is performed several times, depending on the ripening stage of the various crops as they are ready to be made into excellent oil.
Hand harvesting with the use of small hand-held tools, such as combs or small rakes, is a method that best preserves the integrity of the fruit.
The milling takes place with a cold mechanical system on the same day of the harvest. The oil mill is located in Palazzolo dello Stella (Ud), a few kilometres from the plants. This is how a unique and high-quality oil takes shape, the extra virgin olive oil BRAIDE DORO.
